About Rodrego Way, LPC-S, LCDC

Twenty years in the field. Still in the chair.

He founded Mind and Therapy Clinic, PLLC in 2020, holds licensure in four states, supervises the next generation of clinicians, and gives away a serious amount of his time to men’s groups that will never appear on an invoice. The consulting practice grew out of the clinical one — not the other way around.

The long version

How a clinician became “The Therapy Coach.”

Rodrego Way has spent more than twenty years doing the part of this work nobody applauds: sitting across from someone who did not want to be there, and staying in the room until something changed.

That is the whole origin story of the nickname. Long before there was a brand, there were men who wouldn’t say the word “therapy” out loud but would absolutely talk to a coach. Someone in their corner. Someone who would tell them the truth about their game film and still expect them to win. The title arrived because clients kept handing it to him, and it stuck because it was accurate.

In 2020 — a year that sent the entire country looking for help at once — he founded Mind and Therapy Clinic, PLLC. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, licensed to practice in Texas, South Carolina, Georgia, and Louisiana. Four states, four boards, four sets of continuing requirements. He keeps all of them current because he is still practicing, not because it looks good in a bio.

He is not a speaker who used to be a clinician. He is a clinician who speaks — and every room can tell the difference within about four minutes.

That distinction is the reason agencies, organizations, and conference committees keep calling. The frameworks he teaches are the ones he uses on Tuesday. The case examples are not borrowed from a textbook. When a supervisor in the back row asks the complicated version of the question — the one with a real person and a real liability attached — he can answer it, because he answers questions like that for his own supervisees every week.

And when the training day ends, he doesn’t go home and stop. He shows up in fraternity halls, lodge basements, committee meetings, and advocacy groups — usually unpaid, usually with men who arrived skeptical. That service work is not a line on a résumé. It is where the material gets tested.

Licensure & credentials

Four states. Two licenses. One standard.

Multi-state licensure means engagements, supervision, and telehealth can cross borders without a compliance scramble — and it means his clinical footing has been vetted by four separate boards.

Building the clinicians who come next.

As a board-approved supervisor, Rodrego works with master’s-level interns and licensed associates — the stretch between graduating and becoming genuinely competent, where most new clinicians either find their footing or quietly burn out.

  • Supervision for master’s-level interns completing practicum and internship hours
  • Supervision for licensed associates working toward full licensure
  • Case consultation, documentation review, and clinical decision-making
  • Substance use and co-occurring case supervision, informed by LCDC licensure

Service & community leadership

Where he shows up when nobody’s paying him.

These are the rooms where men actually talk — fraternity chapters, lodges, advocacy groups, committee tables. Rodrego has spent years building the bridge between those spaces and clinical care, and it is the single biggest reason his consulting work translates.

Member

Men’s Advocacy Group (MAG) — New Friends New Life

Working alongside an organization that restores trafficked and sexually exploited women and children, through the arm dedicated to holding men accountable and changing the demand side of the equation.

Life member

Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

Delivers mental health programming and support at both the local chapter and district level — bringing clinical language into a brotherhood that has spent a century mobilizing men around service.

Committee member — local & national

Serves as the mental health professional on the committee, shaping wellness programming and mentorship guidance for chapters and for the organization’s work at the national level.

Group leader

MENtality — Most Excellent Prince Hall Grand Chapter, Holy Royal Arch Masons of Texas

Leads a standing men’s group built for members who have been taught their whole lives to carry it alone — a structured space to say the thing out loud, with a licensed clinician in the room.

The whole idea, in one line

“You don’t have to be healed to be useful. You have to be honest about where you’re standing — then start there.
